There’s something incredibly powerful about the way a small business can show up in its own community. At Edible Impressions, giving back isn’t just a nice extra — it’s part of who we are. And some of the most meaningful moments happen when we bring creativity and connection to our elders.
Our recent Valentine’s cookie decorating experience at Newcastle Place, Mequon, WI was a beautiful reminder of that impact. Around the tables sat four generations of residents, staff, family members, and little ones, all sharing the same space, the same supplies, and the same smiles. Age disappeared. Titles didn’t matter. Everyone was simply an artist with a cookie and a brush.
Residents and staff enjoyed painting on pre-frosted sugar cookies topped with our pure vanilla royal icing. For some, it sparked memories of baking years ago. For others, it was a brand-new creative adventure.
These moments do more than decorate desserts, they build connection, encourage fine motor activity, inspire conversation, and most importantly, make people feel seen and included. Our elders have given so much to their families and communities. Creating space for joy, creativity, and shared experience is one small way we can give something meaningful back.
As a small cookie business, we may not change the whole world. But we can brighten a room, spark a memory, and help create moments that matter - one cookie at a time.
Sweetly, Annette Conrad & Team
